  Trip TWO.
Trip One

Not too worried about getting on the water early, launched around 10:30 a.m.   Hoping to have a repeat of the previous trip here the objective was to fish a similar tide and location.   I caught a small rockfish near the mouth of Church Creek on a white gulp and chartreuse 1/2 once jig, and a perch along the way on the South River.   Unfortunately the birds were not on the water today... but the sonar was showing fish in the water.   There wan't a lot of action as the previous trip.... but was real happy to bring home this chubby 24 inch rockfish.   I had another very strong hookup.... actually I thought it was a snag at the time.   But thinking back,  I think it was a large fish that I didn't set the hook properly.   It spun my kayak around by the time I picked up the rod and reel from it's rear holder.

Interesting as it were.... the tail of the rockfish I brought home
had deformed or damaged tail.  There were no spots or demfromaties of the skin or body.  I was worried about the fish being diseased and I sent pictures to DNR for their thoughts.   They believe the fish had been caught in nets, and thusly damaged the tail.  It was a beautiful healthy fish other wise, and I filet him... fried some "fish sticks" up, made a ceviche, and broiled the rest.
